The Katsuras
“The Young Guns"
-
Bio
These up-and-coming trees on the Linfield scene were planted at the same time the class of 2027 began their Linfield journey. The Young Guns stand (as tall as they can) next to the Keck Science Center as students walk by, ready to show off their small but mighty talent. Even though some of the boys are a bit more withered than the others (and one is prematurely balding), that doesn’t mean they aren’t any less special! Just like the students of Linfield, the Young Guns are growing and changing alongside us. No one knows how big the Young Guns will get as they continue to grow … but even after us students have completed our Linfield journeys, they’ll be here, bigger, leafier (or maybe even a bit balder) than ever!

More About the Katsuras
Although the Keck Katsura trees have only been in the ground at Linfield for one year, fossil records indicate that the Katsura Tree has existed for at least 1.8 million years, flourishing in both Asia and North America. Katsura is related to both magnolia and tulip trees. Although it may not boast the vibrant flowers of its relatives, it is celebrated for its charming heart-shaped leaves.

“I support these trees because of their new beginnings on the Linfield campus. They have a long time to grow, reflecting the journey of Linfield's students.” Brooke Clemens
